Last year, Bonham staff and students adopted members of Delta 4-5 from Fort Hood during their deployment to the Middle East. Each month, students sent care packages with snacks, letters, and well-wishes. We were able to visit via video conference several times throughout the school year. Students were able to ask questions about Army life and what the soldiers looked forward to most when coming home. Soldiers were able to encourage students to overcome obstacles they were facing as well as encourage them to put forth maximum effort in school work. Over the course of the school year, great relationships were formed between individual soldiers and students. It was a pleasure to finally welcome home our adopted soldiers and speak with them in person.
Thank you to Cpt. Joseph and Dr. Mayo for making this partnership a reality. The encouragement of the troops throughout the year is something our students will never forget.
