Meet the Principal

Dear Bonham Parents and Students,

I am honored to be the principal at Bonham Middle School! This will be my seventh year at BMS and TISD. My educational experience includes serving as a high school Biology teacher in Livingston ISD, a Physics teacher and football/baseball coach in College Station ISD, a head baseball coach in Lexington ISD, and an assistant principal at Bonham Middle School for five years. I received a Bachelors in Science degree from Texas A&M University in 2008 and a Masters of Educational Leadership from Lamar University in 2016.

At Bonham Middle School, our motto is “Hard work pays off!” We strive to instill that in our students everyday. We provide the highest quality education possible; so, our students achieve their maximum potential. We accomplish this through our Mission, Vision, and Goals:

 Our Mission

To inspire, motivate and empower students to reach their maximum potential

Our Vision

The Bonham MS community will provide a safe environment where all students will grow academically in order to become adaptive and confident learners.

Our Goals

Bonham MS Teachers will facilitate increased students mastery through the use of  research  based practices that support students ownership and promote personal and academic growth.

Bonham MS Teachers will foster  a campus wide positive leadership culture to set students on a lifelong path for success.

Bonham MS Teachers will nurture student voices, parent relations and community and community involvement to promote student academic achievement and personal success.

Our core beliefs at Bonham include: that all students can grow and learn academically, that students will learn to be adaptive and confident learners through student agency, and that we will use Restorative Discipline Practices in order to create a positive and safe learning environment. Our students have achieved numerous academic, athletic, and Fine Arts awards. Thanks to our community’s support, BMS offers three technology courses which specifically support the Temple High School technology career pathways. In addition, 8th graders have the opportunity to take up to four courses for high school credit. Chromebooks are integrated into our students’ everyday learning as part of our 1:1 Chromebook Initiative.

Our students’ success relies on a strong partnership between parents, school, and community.

Our community partners include:

  • ACER
  • McLennan Community College
  • PDI
  • Temple High School Career and Technology Department
  • Temple ISD Athletic Department
  • Texas State Technical College
  • Communities in Schools
  • Region 12 Health Careers
  • Fort Hood
  • Temple College

We look forward to getting to know you and your child, and partnering with each of you to serve students here at Bonham Middle School.

I invite you to visit our campus to see all the great things that are going on at Bonham. If I can be of any assistance to you, please let me know.

Sincerely,

Michael Hobbs, M. Ed.
