Science

Students are engaged in the study of scientific investigation and reasoning, matter and energy, force and motion, earth and space, and organisms and the environment, including a two-week unit on sexual health. Instructional time includes lab activities in which students conduct investigations. 8th-grade science is an interdisciplinary study of earth and space science as well as life and physical science. Topics of studies include laboratory safety, problem-solving, force and motion, the periodic table of elements, light, and sound, and the universe. 
 

Pre-AP Science

Pre-AP Science is a focused, fast-paced course that emphasizes research and discovery methodology as a basis for problem-solving with more depth and/or complexity. This course is interdisciplinary in nature and follows a more rigorous pace. Students are expected to participate in class discussions and labs, complete group or individual projects, complete written reports and explore extensions. 7th-grade Pre-AP Science has a focus on organisms and their environment. 8th-grade Pre-AP Science has much of the content focus on earth and space science as well as life and physical science.
